Anyway you spin it, this San Diego-area home is a revelation.
Sitting atop Mt. Helix, the circular home rotates, allowing guests and visitors to choose their view, be it the mountains, the beaches or downtown San Diego, according to Melvina Selfani of Century 21 Affiliated, who listed the property last week for $5.3 million. It’s located about 20 miles west of the city in La Mesa, California.
“It rotates very slowly and smoothly 360 degrees,” she said, noting that the fastest rotation takes about 45 minutes. “It does rotate both directions, clockwise and counterclockwise. … Being able to enjoy the views from every room and turn the house whichever way you choose is incredible.”

Built in 2004, the upper level includes a 3,700-square-foot indoor living area with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, as well as a 1,400-square-foot deck. Both the spaces rotate, not only allowing the occupants to switch up their vantage point, but also move the home throughout the day as the sunlight adjusts, according to the listing.
Inside, the design features peach-orange walls and gleaming wood floors, listing photos show. The main living area includes a fireplace and dining area, and is adjacent to the kitchen, which offers wood cabinetry, a breakfast bar and a separate dining nook, as well as top-of-the-line appliances.
There are four bedrooms and four bathrooms, including the main bedroom suite, which also boasts far-reaching views.

There are also rooms with hand-painted murals. One of them is a children’s bedroom with a huge tree on the wall. That room also has oversized windows framing the nature outside.
There’s also a 1,200-square-foot fixed deck, and the first floor features 2,100 square feet of fixed living space, offering a recreation area with a kitchenette and bathroom—which could also be a guest or in-law suite—a workshop and a two-car garage that also rotates. The home is powered by 43 solar panels, and there are several covered and uncovered outdoor areas, plus a putting green.
The underlying property last sold for $265,000 in 1999, according to records with PropertyShark. The owners were not available for comment.
