United Properties opens new senior living complex in Minnetonka

A new 55-plus apartment complex in Minnetonka has recently opened to be leased, Minneapolis-based real estate developer United Properties announced Wednesday.

Amira Minnetonka is located within three miles of downtown Wayzata. The 186-unit complex offers “picturesque views of Lake Minnetonka” and is near paths for walking and biking, as well as dining and retail, the developer said.

The active adult community has a large selection of amenities, including a golf simulator, library, yoga and fitness studios, an outdoor pool and hot tub, community gardens, fully furnished community rooms, a club room and sky lounge. These amenities, as well as community events, activities and everyday maintenance, will be managed by Great Lakes Management.

“Our aim is to have best-in-class communities that give older adults — including Baby Boomers looking to downsize — the freedom to focus their time and energy on what matters most: community, family, friends and their interests,” said Naomi Ohnstad, United Properties’ development director, in a statement.

Amira Minnetonka’s units range from alcove studios to three-bedroom floor plans. Every unit is equipped with walk-in closets and in-unit washers and dryers. The developer said that many homes also include a flex room that can be used as an office or hobby space, as well as private outdoor areas. Out of the 186 units, 19 are priced in the affordable category, and rental prices are all-inclusive, except for electricity.

The project was recently constructed by Weis Builders and designed by ESG Architecture & Design.

This is United Properties’ third Amira community to open. Its two other locations, in Bloomington and Roseville, are currently fully leased, United Properties said.

“I’ve seen people move into our buildings and find a fresh vibrancy and zest for life after just a few weeks. Amira Minnetonka offers more than housing — it’s a true community,” Ohnstad continued.
